Welcome to Creative Hastings - promoting the arts in the beautiful district of Hastings right in the heart of Hawke's Bay.

Exhibitions

We invite you to visit the exhibitions in the Hastings Community Arts Centre, located in an absolute gem of a Spanish Mission building in the centre of Hastings City. The arts centre showcases the talent of Hawke's Bay with exhibitions changing every two weeks. Go to the exhibitions link on the left to see our calendar of coming shows.

Hawke's Bay Big Swing Band.
Groove to the sound of a live Big Band..join in the swing.

Monday February 13th  - Poetry of Love

Love, Love, Love – It’s all you need.  Naughty or Nice, Fun or Fetish, Consumate or Conned - Love has always been a poem worth writing.  Our AGM starts the evening (see below) and Chocolates will keep it going! 

 Monday March 12th – 20 year Birthday

It is a special pleasure to welcome our Founding Father, Keith Thorsen as Guest Poet tonight.  Keith is a nationally recognised Performance Poet and most of you will already know just how wonderful his poetry is.  Bring a friend – this night will be one to remember!   Supper provided.

Monday April 9th - Chocolate Fish!

Our famous Chocolate Fish Evening!  Catch yourself a chocolate fish by using one or more of these lines in an original poem.  If your poem is published or performed anywhere else, please remember to acknowledge the source of any lines used.  Thanks to the Committee for choosing!

Hawke’s Bay Live Poets’ Society - 2nd Monday of each month, Feb – Dec.  
Venue: Hastings Community Arts Centre, Russell St, Hastings.  Doors open 7.30pm, poetry starts 8.00pm.  Audience and poets most welcome.  $5 entry and cash bar with wine and juice available.  Please bring a small plate of finger food to share.
